Great pads…low profile and light. They fit perfectly under my ice hockey coaching pants.
Utterly useless for real mountain biking — complete design failure
I wanted to like these pads. I really did. But after multiple rides and now a crash, I can say without hesitation that the Pro-Rugged 2 MTB Knee/Shin Guards from G-Form are fundamentally flawed and completely unreliable.
The only thing supposedly keeping these pads in place is a single Velcro strap above the knee combined with a stretchy sleeve. That’s it. No lower retention, no rigid structure, no mechanical anchor. No matter how tight you cinch the strap or where you position it, the pads do not stay in place. They slide down while pedaling, while descending, and—most importantly—when you crash.
In my most recent crash, the pads had slipped down yet again, leaving my knee exposed. The result? Direct knee impact, abrasion, and bruising—exactly the injury these pads are marketed to prevent. The “knee protection” was sitting on my upper shin at the moment of impact, which makes it completely worthless.
Soft armor means absolutely nothing if it’s not positioned over the knee when you hit the ground. These pads offer false confidence at best and real risk at worst. Tightening the strap further only cuts circulation and still doesn’t solve the problem.
These might be acceptable for light XC riding or casual use, but they have no business being marketed as rugged MTB protection, especially for aggressive trail, enduro, or e-MTB riding. A pad that looks fine standing still but fails the moment it’s actually needed is a failure—period.
I would not recommend these to anyone who rides real terrain or expects their protective gear to work in a crash. Save your money and buy pads with proper retention and structural stability. These belong in the trash.
Cant wait to use them
Awesome
Good looking product. I actually purchased the shin guards to protect my leg that was severely burned years ago and the scar tissue from the skin graphs isn’t the same as the original skin. I must have ordered to small of a size because they actually feel very uncomfortable. I returned to using a leather pair I made for myself. Probably try the next size up .
The new standard in protection
